Christmas Comes Early - Tonight, December 21, we are going to have two amazing Christmas services at 6:00 & 7:30 p.m. I hope that you are planning on attending. You are going to hear some incredible music from Behold the Lamb of God and be blessed as we celebrate our Savior's coming and the dawning of hope! I look forward to seeing you tonight!
Advent Conspiracy Offering - In this season of giving we want to remind you that we are part of a conspiracy to truly make Christmas about blessing the least of these. For the past three years we have been asking ourselves how we can put Christ at the center of our celebration. Our answer is to Worship Christ fully, to Spend Less on stuff, to Give More of ourselves and Love the Least of These to those who are desperate for hope found only in Christ. This year...
I am sitting in my office after the memorial service for Ben Cordes, who passed away this past Sunday after a long battle with ALS. Ben is the father of John Cordes, our beloved worship pastor. John and his mother, Marnie, along with all their family, church family and friends gathered to remember Ben in story, song and scripture and to celebrate God’s redemptive work in Ben’s life. Keep the Cordes family in your prayers as they mourn the passing of Ben.
Today, is also the first day of our 10 days of prayer leading up the Global Day of Prayer on June 12 Pentecost Sunday. The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch is hosting this year’s city wide prayer event so I hope that you will put it on your calendar. If you didn’t get a prayer guide Sunday go to...
On this Memorial Day weekend, I want to take a minute and remember that the freedom we have was purchased at a great price. To all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, their very life, we say with great indebtedness, “Thank you”.
Americans will observe the “National Moment of Remembrance” at 3:00 pm our local time on Memorial Day. At this moment I encourage you to pause with your family and friends and thank God for those who have paid the ultimate price for the liberty we all enjoy.
Just a reminder, the ultimate freedom we have is found in Jesus Christ. So, on this weekend of remembrance, join me in celebration and remembrance of our freedom in our Lord Jesus Christ as we worship Him together.

- Skip a meal then embrace prayer spending the time praying for the hungry and poor.
- Give up caffiene then embrace generosity by giving the money to Living Water to provide water.
- Fast for a day a week then embrace compassion by buying groceries for a family in need.
- Give up computer time then embrace reaching out by taking the time to visit with neighbors or some one who just needs a friend to listen.
- Give up some sleep then embrace scripture getting up 30 minutes early and...
I am in the warmth of my office putting the finishing touches on Sunday's message and I am so excited about our next series of messages calledThe Gospel of Marriage. The truth is that we don't hear much good news about marriage these days. From a 50% plus divorce rate, to marriage bashing sit-coms, to an all out cultural assault to redefine marriage itself, the institution of marriage is on the rocks. In this hard-hitting and hope-filled series we are going to look at what Jesus said about the topic. Whether you're married, divorced, never been married, never want to be married or just waiting for the right one, you will be amazed at what Jesus says about being a man or a woman and marriage. It's more than what you think because in the words of Jesus there are truths that will change your...
The New Year is coming to a close. This past Sunday our year long study of Isaiah came to an end and now we are embarking upon a year in the Gospels. Jesus had the "words of life" as Peter said and we are going to be studying those words throughout 2011. This Sunday we will kick off 2011! I hope you are planning on being there ... and invite a friend to start off the New Year at The Fellowship.
I mentioned in my message last Sunday that there are some questions that I am asking myself as I close out 2010 and get ready for 2011. Wrapping up 2010 and Ramping up for 2011 is a process of asking good questions about your life in its many facets. Below are a few of the questions that I am asking myself as I close out 2010.
My Emotional Life - Is there anyone whose forgiveness I need to seek? Is...
In this season of Advent we celebrate the fact that Jesus came and gave His very life for us. The greatest gift of love ever given and now you and I, who hold this precious gift of love, can take its light into places of darkness to bring hope and healing.
As a church this Christmas we once again are choosing to conspire . . . an Advent Conspiracy - Worship fully, Spend Less, Give More and Love All is more than a seasonal slogan for the followers of Christ ... it is a way of life. I hope families at The Fellowship will prayerfully consider what they will give to the Advent Conspiracy. This year we are focusing on the fatherless girls who are being rescued from a life of darkness after being born into a life of certain sexual slavery. As Our Own is a ministry rescuing these girls and raising...
What a week ... it is hard to believe it is November when the temperature is over 80 degrees. If you are like me you want to go home, crank the air down and start a fire. But no worries, the weatherman has assured me cold is coming ... and then we will all be clamoring for heat. Oh, what a fickle people we are, always wanting what we don't have while forgetting to be thankful what is been given today. :-)
I pray that you have a blessed Thanksgiving celebration with friends, family, food and of course ... fun at our annual Turkey Dash. Show up Thursday morning and meet some new friends or help serve coffee in the Kosmos tent or just "represent" your church and have some fun. Treasure Island is sponsoring the Kid Zone and if you know anything about Louann Pepper's creativity you know it will...
This past Sunday was an exciting weekend. Over 80 Fellowship ladies retreated to be encouraged to live in faith during tough times. Several Fellowshippers were at the San Antonio Rock'n Roll Marathon, myself included, enjoying the cool, cloudy weather and race day festivities. But most Fellowshippers were right here at The Fellowship worshipping God and celebrating what God has been doing as a result of Servolution. Thanks to all the dads who helped in Treasure Island children's ministry this past Sunday. Way to go!
This coming Sunday we wrap up our Servolution series. As I am wrestling with the text of Isaiah 59 there are some tough questions that are raised, like "Does God hear the prayers of all people?". In this week's message we are going to Suit Up for the Servolution ahead. I will also share a...
Tuesday I stood in line to vote. It was quick and painless ... but some voters paid dearly standing in long lines and waiting for hours, even after the polls closed, in order to exercise a fundamental privilege of living in the United States - the right to vote. The elections are now over and no matter how you voted or how your candidate faired, we are all called to lift up our leaders in prayer, no matter their political persuasion.
"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:1-4
On Wednesday I had...
I got great news on Tuesday! Our Executive Pastor, Tommy Bolin, is home after his heart and lung transplant. I am thankful for the prayers of so many for him and his family. Keep praying for his recovery as it continues to be a long journey.
If you are like most families you are finishing up last minute school preparation; maybe even braving the tax free weekend crowds. But I hope that in your "back to school plans" you are planning on being at The Fellowship this weekend! This Sunday is a big day for The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch. This time of the year families are getting back to church, starting Fall rountines and schedules, and it always feels like a family reunion (without the conflict :-). I am personally looking forward to seeing everyone this Sunday!
Don't forget to arrive early, park at the...
God is up to something big! This past Sunday's message was from Isaiah 24 ... vs.9 says, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in our salvation." There are a whole lot of people rejoicing in their salvation this week. Let me just come out and say it ... people's lives are being changed here at The Fellowship. This past Sunday, Pastor David shared a message of God's salvation inviting you and I to reflect, repent and respond to God's grace and forgiveness. In all three services men and women gave their hearts and lives to Christ for the very first time. If you were one of those, I hope you will sign up for the next baptism class.
Another sign that God is changing lives: Our youth are studying Revelation...
Over the last several months God has been waking up the hearts of His men to pray! An awakening has begun as several hundred men from many different churches throughout our city have been gathering once a month to pray together. As this movement grows it is clear that God is calling Christian men to come together and seek God's blessing over our city. The Fellowship will be hosting the next gathering of men joining in a union of prayer.
On Thursday, May 6, I need our men to join me at 7 p.m. in the LIFE Center at The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch as we come together with other men throughout our city to pray. I believe that this is a time that we can't afford to miss ... it is a time to pray for our marriages, our children, our communities and more. It is a time to pray that God would pour out His...
