The Kingdom Assignment
On November 6, 2005, at the end of his sermon Pastor Jerry asked for volunteers from the congregation to accept an assignment that would change their lives. On that day 55 adults and 32 students and children accepted Kingdom Assignments. Each adult was given a $100 bill, each student was given a $50 bill and each child was given a $20 bill. They were told three things, 1) this is God's money; 2) use it to further the Kingdom of God in the community; 3) come back in 90 days and tell your story.
On January 29, 2006 we came together as a church to hear about what God did in the lives of these people as they told their stories at the Kingdom Assignment Celebration Service. The people who took these assignments increased the small amount of money given to them and thus had the means to help many people. For some it was help with physical needs, for others, the message and hope of Christ. In the process, no matter what the assignment was or what the amount turned into, they not only had the opportunity to change the lives of others, but their lives were changed as well.
