At The Fellowship, we feel led to reach the Tonga of Mozambique. Since 2009 we have taken teams every year, working closely with our missionaries in the field to impact them with the love of Christ. We are praying to see a disciple making movement sweep across Mozambique as whole villages come to Christ.

Why The Tonga?

1.    The Tonga are the right people – unreached in need of the Savior.
2.    The Fellowship has the right people – a group has worked with and feels called to the Tonga.
3.    We have the right partnerships – we have developed strategic partnerships with Sugar Creek Baptist Church, and African Outreach Ministries to reach the Tonga.
4.    We are doing some of the right things – we have begun to move to second and third generation disciples (a new Christian leads another to Christ (2nd generation) who leads another to Christ (3rd generation). God has divinely led to 2 villages to come to Christ.

Why Now?

1.    The Tonga are a people in transition making them extremely open to change and the Gospel.

In the last 35 years, the Tonga have experienced tremendous upheaval:

1975 - Independence after 400 years of Portugal rule
1977-1992 - Civil war against Marxism resulting in 1 million refuges and devastation to the economy and wildlife
2000 - Worst flooding in over 50 years, killing 800 people, closing 630 schools, and killing 20,000 head of cattle.
2000-today - Influx of Muslims from the north and Chinese investment from the east. Rapid development of technology and economic growth.

2.    Mozambique is experiencing political stability with freedom to share the Gospel.
3.    The Tonga appear to be very open to the Gospel at this time as demonstrated in several whole villages seeking out missionaries and asking them to come teach about Jesus.
4.    The Fellowship Missions Team for the Tonga feels called by God to work to see the Tonga reached.
