Making a Global Impact

God has called His church to care about every people group and every nation in the world.  God desires that every person have the opportunity to hear the story of His love and grace through Jesus Christ.  But the world is a big place and one church can easily feel overwhelmed by the immensity of such an undertaking.  That’s why in 2004 The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch began to pray that God would lead us to an unreached group of people where we could begin to share His love.

On December 26, 2004 a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Indian Ocean and spawned a tsunami that resulted in over 230,000 deaths.  It is the most devastating natural disaster in modern history.  On the island of Sumatra, over 130,000 Acehnese lost their lives. The port city of Banda Aceh was flattened and entire seaside villages disappeared into the ocean.  The physical destruction subsequently broke down the cultural walls and western nations poured into the area to aid in relief and recovery work.  In 2005 a collaborative partnership was born as The Fellowship made a long term commitment to offer help and hope to the people of Aceh.  Through good deeds that promote good will we are working toward a movement of God birthed among the Acehnese people.

Nearly six years later the relief teams, for the most part, have gone but the real transformation of Aceh is just beginning.  The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch has made a commitment to take several trips a year for the purpose of relief, redevelopment, restoration and rehabilitation in the city of Banda Aceh.  God is pulling together one of the most unique collaborative efforts ever assembled to pass through these open gates.  Bridges of Hope is a network of churches and ministries who have joined together for a common purpose of seeing the Acehnese come to know the full extent of God’s love for them.

This is just the beach head, the first landing in our journey of making a global impact, join us on our next trip to Banda Aceh or stay tuned as God opens new horizons.
