David Ruzicka, Teaching PastorINTERVIEW:

  • Three words to describe me would be ...
    determined, outdoorsman, humor-loving.
  • I do my best thinking ...
when I can withdraw for a few days or longer out in the country or in Colorado, or on a mission trip to the other side of the world. I find that the noise of every day life can drown out creativity and sometimes even God's voice (I love the story of Elijah and God's gentle whisper in 1 Kings 19:12).
  • I always smile when I ...
think of Summer & Taylor (my daughters).
  • My dream vacation would be ...
in Colorado with Cindy, Summer and Taylor (actually every vacation with them is a dream vacation).
  • The last book I read was ...
The Book of Isaiah (Commentary) by John N. Oswalt. I think I’ll be reading it all year!
  • You ought to see my collection of...
I've never collected anything, but I seem to have unintentionally accumulated a large number of deer horns, even a pair mounted on a jack rabbit's head. It's called a jackelope. There was a jackelope on the wall in the barbershop I went to as a little boy, so it has great sentimental value, but Cindy won't let me put it up anywhere in the house. I don't understand why...
  • It’s hard to believe, but ...
I've been married to Cindy for 22 years! I can remember admiring people who had been married 5 years. It seemed like ages! What a gift that she would be mine for that long. She's the best part of me.
  • When I’m cruising in my car, I’m usually listening to...
talk radio, downloaded sermons of pastors I like, or KSBJ. .
  • If you ask me, there could never be enough ...
I should probably say love or joy, but I have to follow my heart and say blueberry or cherry pie (with vanilla ice cream).
  • You’ll never catch me eating ...
sushi! If God meant for fish to be eaten raw, He wouldn't have created deep fryers and corn meal! .
  • In my spare time, you’ll find me...
working out, reading, hanging out with my family, in the country having dad & daughter time, hunting when I have the chance.
  • When it comes to movies, my all-time favorite is...
To Kill a Mockingbird. Classic. Powerful. I cry every time I see Scout meet Boo Radly. But a close second is Sense and Sensibility. I know that might be considered a girl movie, but both movies are about character, nobility and doing the right thing regardless of the cost.
  • When it comes to TV shows, I try not to miss...
Leave It To Beaver or Andy Griffith. Major fan.
  • The one thing I won’t leave home without is ...
    breath mints.
